Thanks to mother nature we finally got our 2nd week of racing in the books….
It was a great day, spectators on the hill, racers in the pits… the track looked good and was ready for some fast racing by the skilled group of racers from our own Fox Valley Lawnmower Racing !!!
As they perpared to put on a show that won’t soon be forgot by all in attendance !!!, The racers added up the points from our last meeting.. Dan Binsfeld and Jay Young found themselfs in a tie for 1st in our Stock division with 900 points each, follwed by Alex Sauer in 3rd with 325 points after his mower broke down. In the modified division the points leader was Trevor Howard with 950 Jake Pleshek a close 2nd with 900 points and Jeffy Danley 3rd with 850 points.
As the fearless racers headed to the track on the best riding lawn mowers, with helmets tight and visions of checkered flags waving’ they settled in for the 1st heat race… We ran both divisions at the same time giving the Stocks 1/2 lap lead at the start… As predicted the track was fast !!! as the checkers fell for the heat race Trevor 1p Jeff 2p Paul Buechler 3p on his new Honda machine, Jake 4p and new blood Todd Nelson 5p. The stocks we had Dan 1p and Jay 2p. It was then time for the 15 lap feature event !!! As our racers took the green flag we watched some of the fastest racing to date with several lead changes and some scary moments ( for me ) it came down to Jeffy Danley pulling out a 1st place finish followed by Trevor Howard with a close 2nd, in 3rd Jake Pleshek 4th was Todd (the newbie) Nelson edging out Paul Buechler after a late race spin finishing 5th in the Modifieds. The stocks we watched as Dan Binsfeld took an early lead but was soon forced to take a knee as his machine had some steering issues allowing Jay Young to win the feature event !!! Racers being racers then decided a King of the Hill race was needed as the day was still young…. Coming out on top of the hill aftere a hard fought battle by both Jeff and Paul who lead most of the event, was Trevor Howard and his Green Machine !!! The Stock King was Dan Binsfeld after he made some repairs to his rides steering troubles. We then watched in awe as our very own Mike Gocker put on a stunt show for the fans…. well that is until he broke his machine..
A big Thank You to the fans The Pit Stop Bar and Grill Ed Schmitt for his hard work, and the Racers !!! For another great Show !!
